If this is true (and we merely need to remember), then this awareness of a sense of "truth" merely verifies the validity of the statement. I have recently read all three volumes of Neale Donald Walsh's book entitled "Conversations With God". These books also rang "true" with me as well, and specifically identified us as "spiritual beings living in bodies". He indicates that collectively we ARE God. He further indicated (via the conversation) that alien life forms have placed mankind on earth. In further questioning it was revealed that many of these alien life forms are quite "evolved", and can dis-corporate from their 'bodies" just as Airl did. Similarly Walsh's "Conversations" pointed out the oppressive role of religion, that keeps us from realizing our own true, God-bearing nature. The only item that did not ring true between Walsh's and Spencer's books is the concept of the "Old Empire" force as explained by Airl. Walsh make no such mention of "Old Empire", but indicates that we simply need to "remember" who we really are. "God" in Walsh's conversation reveals us all to be spirits (IS-BE's), and we need to rejoin with our spiritual nature. He (God) cleverly calls this process re-membering. Personally, I have found that keeping an open mind and better realizing my True Nature (as an IS-BE)has lead to me finding many additional facets of what seems to be the "Truth".
